Gal 5:22-25
“But the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against
such things there is no law. 24 Those
who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and
desires”
A wise man once said, the best way to resist the devil, is to cultivate
the virtues opposite to what he wants you to do. Instead of direct opposition or defiance,
practice charity, gentleness, self-control, joy. We do this here at the Lord’s table. A central practice to the Christian life, is
to receive blessing from God with gratitude.
If you see and appreciate God’s grace to you in Christ at the cross, if
you look around here, and you appreciate that the Spirit is working to draw us
into union with Christ, and with one another, when we are truly thankful for that,
it is one of the best bulwarks against the attacks of our adversary.
Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus.
