3. Application

Chapter 20
1. Cities appointed for refuge from avengers in cases of accidental murder.
2. Jesus is our refuge
3. We should make allowances for unintentional sin, and not seek vengeance ourselves.  God provides justice in unique situations.

2. Jesus gave gifts to His church: pastors and teachers among them.
3. God provides for His ministers who represent Him.

Chapter 22
1. Joshua sends the eastern tribes home with his blessing.  They build an altar to God at the Jordan.  Israel assumes it is not to Yahweh, and go out to fight them.  They say it IS to Yahweh, and for Israel to remember the eastern tribes are part of Israel.
2. Jesus gives us a way to remember that we are part of His people: Communion.
3. Don't make accusatory assumptions about people without hearing them out and giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Chapter 23
1. Joshua gives a farewell, exhorting Israel to stay loyal to God in a land full of other gods.
2. Jesus says the same when He identifies the Shema as the greatest commandment (Deut. 6:4-5).
3. An aged believer's greatest burden is to see his descendants walking in the truth and faith of Jesus Christ.

Chapter 24
1. Joshua recounts Israel's history, and calls for them to commit to serve God.
2. Jesus is the ultimate leader in being faithful to serve God, and He calls forth such service from His people.
3. Calls to God's people to commit to the Lord are not out of order.
