1. Text summary
2. How is Christ in the text?
3. Application
1. Israel agrees that Gibeah's act was reprehensible, but Gibeah's tribe, Benjamin, defends it.
God has Israel attack Benjamin, much as it did Philistines before, and it goes much the same: Benjamin wins at first and Israel is dismayed, but they attack again and Israel wins.
Israel had sworn not to give their daughters to Benjamites for wives. But to have mercy on them, they sent them out to dance in the street, and let Benjamites ambush and grab them for wives! Then they didn't break their promise, and Benjamin could continue their tribal line.
2. Jesus has mercy on His people when they stubbornly rebel, then repent later. He doesn't let us be cut off forever, but finds a way to restore us, often using the sacrifice of others of His people.
3. When fellow Christians go off the rails, we should go the extra mile to restore them.
