Genesis 1-3; John 1-3

Genesis 1 - God creates the heavens and earth, fills them with creatures, and makes man to rule and tend them.  God rests on the 7th day, making it holy.

2 - God made man from dirt, breathed life into him, and put him in Eden garden to keep it.  He tells him not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  Adam names the animals and God makes Eve for Adam.

3 - Satan lies to Eve and gets her to eat of the forbidden tree.  God finds out and holds Adam responsible.  He blames Eve, and Eve blames the serpent.  God curses the serpent to ultimate defeat, Eve to pain in childbearing, and Adam to frustrating toil in his work, and death.  God clothes them in mercy, but exiles them from Eden, keeping them from eternal life for a time - (until the resurrection of Christ, when He harrows Sheol?).

John 1 - the Word, with God and God from the beginning, made all things, came into His world, made flesh, but was rejected.  Those who didn't He gave life.  John testified to this Lamb of God.  Jesus gathers disciples and heads for Galilee.

2 - Jesus turns OT purification water into excellent wine, showing that something better than the OT is coming with Him.  He cleanses the temple, calling it His Father's house.  Challenged, He says He will raise up the temple in 3 days - His body!

3 - Jesus tells Nicodemus everyone must be born again and look to the Son of Man in faith.  God loved the world by sending this Son to restore life.  Rejecting Him condemns you.  Jesus and John teach and baptize in the same area, but John wants people to go to Jesus.
