Hebrews Summary

- God spoke to us definitively in Jesus, God's exact image, superior to all angels.

- We have a greater message than what angels gave us (through Moses).  Jesus was put under the angels for a while, to save us (Psalm 8).

- Jesus is greater than Moses.  Don't rebel, as Israel did against Moses.

- Jesus is greater than Joshua; He gives us rest in His world and as our High Priest.

- Jesus is greater than Aaron - a priest of Melchizedek's line!

- If you remain immature, you'll wind up barren.  But I trust you will inherit God's sure promises.  Jesus has gone into the holy of holies for you!

- Melchizedek was greater than Abraham.  Aaron's priesthood could not save us.  Psalm 110 shows Jesus as our forever priest, able to save, offering one effective sacrifice (that blessed Abraham and his descendants forever!).

- Jesus' priesthood is a greater ministry than the OT, and has better promises (Jeremiah 31:31-34 foretells it.)  The first covenant is passing away.

- The first covenant had sacrifices with blood brought into the temple.  Jesus brought a better sacrifice into the temple: Himself!

- Christ's sacrifice is better than the OT: it doesn't need to be repeated, and it worked - the OT foretold this.  So let's draw near to God through Jesus, meeting together.  Pursue holiness and don't fall back into sin.

- Many OT saints lived by faith, and never saw God's promises fulfilled.

- So look to Jesus and run your race.  God may discipline you, but it's as a father who loves you.  You've come to a greater mountain than Sinai.  God will shake everything out of your life that is not of His kingdom.

- Do good and be willing to bear Christ's reproach.  God will equip you for it.  Tim is out of jail.  Greet everyone.
