What's a Maundy?

last supper : Holy communion Chalice with red wine, pita bread, Holy Bible and white hyacinth
Today is Maundy Thursday in the Christian church.

Maundy is an old English word from the Latin "mandatum," which means commandment.  It remembers that Jesus gave His disciples a new commandment in the Upper Room on this day (John 13:34).

Many churches have a worship service that is Passover and/or Communion focused, some with a foot-washing ceremony.

John 13:1-18:27 gives us the words of Jesus, His prayer and arrest in Gethsemane, which all happened on this night.  Read it, and weep.
